Parking

Please be aware that there are designated paid parking areas in Pinawa  ('Pinawa Paid Parking Areas')

Note: paid parking is currently NOT in effect. Paid parking will commence once the signs have been put up at the Pinawa Paid Parking Areas. See the map below for reference.

Why are we charging for parking?

Parking charges are implemented to recover the costs of making Pinawa serviceable for visitors.

Services such as waste collection, washroom and parking lot maintenance, and urban/natural upkeep are expenses to provide a positive experience for both visitors and residents.

The revenue collected from parking fees is meant to recover this cost, fund the community’s economic and recreational vitality, protect the natural beauty of this town for all to enjoy.

Thank you for visiting our community!

Purchasing a day pass at a parking location allows full day access to all Pinawa Paid Parking Areas.

The following parking areas require payment in 2025:

  • Diversion Dam (Channel float start)
  • Pinawa Suspension Bridge (Channel float end)
  • The Sundial
  • East side of Willis Drive with access to the beach, pool, the marina and boat launch

Signage will indicate which parking areas are paid access.
The Pinawa Paid Parking Areas are shown on this map in yellow:

Parking in all areas costs $10.00. If you are not a resident of Pinawa, parking day passes are available at any of the parking locations through Pinawa’s payment system (HONK website)

  1. QR codes will be posted at all parking locations
  2. Scan the QR code with a smartphone and access the link
  3. From there, you can pay on your phone with a credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay or Google Wallet

Signage will indicate if the area is Pinawa paid parking.

No. Once you have paid for parking in one area, your payment applies to all Pinawa paid parking areas for the day for that vehicle.

A day pass is valid until midnight of the day it was purchased.

Scan the posted QR code using your smartphone at the area you want to park in. Input your license plate into our HONK software.

Payment types accepted are credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay and Google Wallet

This online payment system is the most eco-friendly and convenient setup for taking parking payments. Unfortunately, we are not accepting cash transactions to pay for parking or handing out paper slips to indicate payment. However, there are a couple of alternative options to paying for parking if you do not have a smartphone or credit card.

  1. Ask another visitor at the parking site to input your license plate into HONK and repay them with cash.

  2. Come visit the Municipal Office at 36 Burrows Drive during regular hours (8:30-4:30)

If your resident pass is displayed in your vehicle, you do not have to pay to park at the Pinawa paid parking areas. See the Resident’s Pass page for more information on resident parking passes.

No. Having a marina slip (docking your boat in the marina) grants you a marina slip pass, meaning you can park for free in the Sundial and Boat Launch parking areas. Display your marina slip pass on your dashboard to park for free when accessing your watercraft at the marina.

No. If you have registered and paid for a swimming lesson at the Pinawa Pool, parking is free during the duration of the lesson. You must input your license plate during lesson registration to access this benefit.

Only seasonal campground site occupiers of Pinawa can purchase a seasonal resident’s pass. See the Resident’s Pass page for more information on seasonal resident passes.

Visitors are reminded that Pinawa is a residential town and obstructing a roadway, access to a home/driveway or public institution is not permitted.

A reminder that parking is not permitted on Vanier Avenue between Willis and Burrows.

No. There is no charge to park to visit the Cemetery. Please do not use the designated parking stalls if this is not the reason for your visit, as the Cemetery parking stalls are reserved for visitors to the Cemetery only.

If you pay to launch your boat, you do not have to pay to park in the boat launch parking area or in the Sundial parking area.

However, if you wish to park in a different area, such as the Suspension Bridge or the Diversion Dam, you will have to pay to park in the areas that do not accompany the boat launch.
