The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) patrols Pinawa. 

The local RCMP office is open Wednesdays from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and is located in the Municipal Building on Burrows Road. For non-emergency situations, call 204-753-2217.

Fire Protection

Fire Protection services are provided by the Pinawa Volunteer Fire Department. Approximately 101 sq. km (39.5 sq. miles) of the total 122 sq. km. in the Local Government District of Pinawa is forest land, which includes 6.1 and 2.2 sq. km on Carter and Hind Islands. Of this total land, over 33 sq. km. are in the area protected by AECL’s nuclear site license. Another 10 sq. km. is part of the Whiteshell Provincial Forest, including 5 sq. km. which is part of the Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Pinawa Fire Department responds 24 hour a day, 365 days a year to emergencies. The department is dispatched by the 911 Communications Center located in Brandon, Manitoba.  

The Pinawa Fire Department responds to and performs the following functions:

  • Fire and Life Safety Inspections

The Pinawa Fire Department is equipped with one Engine (1250 foaming pump with 1000 gallons of water and 8 MSA G1 SCBA’s), one Rescue Truck (equipped with the ‘Jaws of Life’ and Vehicle extrication equipment), one Wildfire Response Truck (100 psi pump and a 150 gallon tank and Wildlife fighting gear), one F 150 4×4 Truck.
